Founder & Maker · Forgewell OutdoorI’m the founder, designer, and maker behind Forgewell. I run a one-woman operation from my home studio — sourcing materials, cutting patterns, and sewing every garment by hand.
I’m a hiker and camper, but I’ll be honest — I’m not a thru-hiker, section hiker at best — but I’m a creator who fell in love with the outdoor gear world after following my brother’s Appalachian Trail thru-hike and doing my own section hike. What I saw on the trail — the gaps, the frustrations, the conversations about what gear should be — lit a fire in me that hasn’t gone out.
I don’t pretend to have the most miles. But I have the hands, the obsession with materials, and the drive to build gear that the people with the most miles actually want. That’s the deal I’m making with every customer: I’ll pour everything I have into the craft, and I’ll listen closely to the people who test it where it matters.

I’ve always been drawn to making things with my hands — the kind of deep, focused work where hours disappear and something real takes shape. Forgewell is where that creative drive meets a purpose I believe in.
Every piece is designed, cut, sewn, and finished by hand in my home studio. I use elite materials like Polartec® Alpha® Direct that many large brands can’t even access, and I keep runs intentionally small so I can stay close to the process and build deliberately. No trends. No filler. Only gear that earns its place in someone’s pack.

Polartec® Alpha® Direct is one of the most sought-after ultralight insulation fabrics in the cottage industry — and it's often hard to find in finished garments. We built direct sourcing relationships to access it, and we're not compromising on anything else.
Every material we use is chosen for one reason: does it make the garment better for the person wearing it on a hard day? If the answer isn't a clear yes, it doesn't make the cut.
I don’t design in isolation. I design with the people who live this.
Following my brother’s AT thru-hike and doing my own section hike gave me something no amount of market research could — real conversations with real hikers about what they actually need and what’s missing. Those conversations haven’t stopped.
Future Forgewell designs will be shaped by hikers I’ve met on the trail, turning field-tested feedback into gear that solves problems other brands haven’t noticed yet. I bring the craft. They bring the miles. Together, we build something better.

When I started researching the ultralight apparel space, the same frustrations kept surfacing — Fewer fit options. Forgewell was born from that frustration. Every piece I make is gender-neutral by design, with sizing and fit options that actually work for different bodies — not just scaled-down versions of men’s patterns. Because the trail doesn’t care about demographics, and neither should your gear.
